I trained in electronics back in the 1960's.
At the time I took a unit in computer programming. The computer lived in an air-conditioned
glass cage and was fed programs manually coded on punch cards by a computer operator.
I must confess that by the time I finished the course I was just as mystified as when
I had begun.
My electronic engineering career slowly drifted into increasing involvement with computers. So much so that for the last 30 years or so of my working life until my retirement a couple of years ago, I worked exclusively in software design and development in jobs ranging from programmer to project manager.
I started trading shares on the ASX about 10 years ago under the mentorship of a friend who at the time was managing a large investment fund.
My initial approach was heavily oriented towards fundamental analysis but over the years this has changed to to point where fundamental analysis plays only a minor part in my trading strategy which is heavily based on statistics and mathematical modelling techniques. During this time I have also moved from trading shares to CFD’s to options and in more recent times forex. At this point in time forex seems to me to lend itself better to automated trading than any other instrument that I am aware of.
So I spend my retirement trading, developing trading strategies and software primarily for my own use and trying to help others wherever I reasonably can.
