About
My name is Brian Benson, and I am based in Utah. I am new to FX and trading in general.
For the past 9 months I have studied the FX market including fundamental/technical
analysis, and I have an understanding of the fundamental and technical factors which
determine exchange rates. I am also a programmer and have a basic understanding of
MQL4 usage as well as the basics of C++ syntax. I am excited to compete at the Automated
Trading Championship this year among the best programmers in the business, especially
during these early years of high-tech algorithmic trading in FX. I'm grateful for
the opportunity to test my new skills in an atmosphere simulating real trading and
to learn from more seasoned FX programmers. My reasons for interest in MQL4 are many,
however I'm especially fond of the concept of black box trading which is void of human emotions and intervention, can identify trading opportunities during all market hours on multiple currencies
and timeframes, and can perform complex calculations with lightning speed as the market
changes.
This year my Expert will operate on one currency pair, GBPJPY; I may present a multi-currency
solution at next year's Championship. The Expert Advisor which I've created and submitted
to this Championship, The Ideal Trade, is a basic SMA crossover system using signals
from the 30M and 240M GBP/JPY charts. This system attempts to profit only within in
a trending environment while avoiding trade while the market is predominantly range-bound.
